Special Guests

These past few months have been filled with special guests as we have needed a little extra help around our house. Aunt Janeille from Orlando, Florida was our most recent guest who actually left early this morning. (tear) She is like a sister to me and we have LOTS in common, except for the fact that I am NOT addicted to Diet Coke ("DC" as I encourage her to call it around her children) like she is. It was KILLING both of us to be so couped up in the house......however, we managed to hit a couple shopping places (since we had to be out and about at doctor's appointments anyway.)
Uncle Tye "favorite uncle" as he has primed older sister Katie to say, came and stayed Presidents weekend with us. He goes to school in Virginia, a 7 hour drive, and comes to see us as often as he can.
Holly, daughter Sarah (5) and Katie's arranged husband Ben (2), have come to see us a few times since the arrival of the babies. Holly just might be our favorite guest as she always comes bearing so many gifts and really great food!
Nana and Papa were the highlight of Katie's days while they were here. Nana arrived on December 12 and stayed with us until February 19th. After I was put on bed-rest in October we knew that we would not be able to survive without her. We REALLY appreciated her sacrifice of time to come and help us get babies here as late and healthy as possible. Katie might have just reaped the most benefit however as she got more one-on-one attention from her Grandma than any other grandkid East of the Mississippi! Papa was able to come for about 3 weeks and we miss both of them dearly.
Here is our wonderful doctor, Dr. Adkins, and his wonderful nurse Nicole who we have gotten to know very well, especially over the last 12 weeks as we saw them at least once every week if not more.

SPECIAL DELIVERY X 2!

We are so happy to share with everyone our two new additions to our family. We feel really blessed to have healthy babies that are home with us and doing well. While we were in the hospital there were 10 sets of twins checked in and 3 sets of triplets. Out of all those multiples, ours and only one other set (who were over 6 pounds each and born at 38 1/2 weeks) were the only ones in the regular nursery. Everyone else was in the NICU. This really put things into perspective for us.

Thank you to everyone for your love, support, flowers, gifts, visits, dinners and prayers on our behalf over the past few months. It really made a difference!

Lauren Anslee Duncan

Lauren Anslee Duncan was born at 11:09 a.m., weighed 5 lbs. 2 oz. and was 17 1/4 inches long. She had a bit of trouble breathing at first and spent some time in the NICU. They pumped quite a bit of fluid out of her and within 24 hours she was in the regular nursery with Brooklyn and us. This fluid gave her an extra edge on her weight. We had an ultrasound every week since 24 weeks and the girls were always no more than 2 ounces different so we were a bit surprised with the big diffence in their weight at first. They are now back to being close again at 4 lbs 12 oz (Brooklyn) and 4 lbs 14 oz (Lauren).

Brooklyn Claire Duncan

Brooklyn Claire was born at 11:10 a.m., weighed 4 lbs. 10 oz. and was 17 inches long. She was very healthy and only had one minor issue while at the hospital which was resolved within 24 hours. She was known as Baby B for the entire 5 days while we were at the hospital as we were not quite sure which name we should chose. It was between Brooklyn and Lindsey. We thought we would be able to use the theory of "wait till you see her and you'll know." Excpet that doesn't quite work when you have 2 IDENTICAL girls. :) All the nurses on staff had a poll going for us and one of the nurses even had 2 daughters, one named Lauren and one named Lindsey. (I bet you know what her vote was) Next we decided that we would call her Brooklyn for a few hours and then switch to Lindsey for the next few to see which one rolled off our tounge easier. So as we were trying to leave, the birth certificate lady was blocking the doorway and we were forced to make a decision.....like we didn't see this coming!

CLASSIC!

Right after Katie's "baby sissssssers" came home from the hospital she made them feel VERY comfortable by getting them each their own personal dishcloth. This is what she used to do for all of HER baby dolls until she received some actual baby blankets from Grandma Kiki.
She is a lot of help with the babies and always wants to make sure they are happy.

Tye's a Champion!

Hooray Uncle Tye! Tye and his football teammates won a 3-on-3 basketball tournament last weekend in Virginia. We are so proud of him, that he "made the blog!" We would also like to acknowledge Tye for his ever famous quote found at the top of our blog...."Just Livin The Dream." Now is it really his quote?
